To celebrate the 2021 International Day of Radiology Photo Contest, Yuanpei University of Medical Technology (YUMT) and other societies jointly held an international online cardiac imaging seminar and launched a photo competition at the same time. Teachers and students from our sister schools in Indonesia, Japan, Vietnam and other countries participated. There were 29 works selected which will be exhibited at Yuanpei Medical Imaging Museum from now until December 15.
To commemorate the discovery of radiation by the German physicist Röntgen, November 8th is designated as International Radiation Day every year. The main purpose is to raise public awareness of the importance of radiologists and radiographers in the healthcare system; on this day, Medical imaging, radiology societies, radiology professional societies, radiographer’s societies, and related scientific societies all over the world will arrange related celebrations.
The 2021 International Day of Radiology Photo Contest hosted by Yuanpei University (YUMT) of Medical Technology is supported by the Guang-yu Cultural and Educational Foundation, Medical Imaging Corporation and Taiwan Society of Ultrasound in Medicine. YUMT solicited works from teachers and students from Taiwan’s universities and colleges and our overseas sister schools on October 29th, a total of 95 works from multiple countries were received. Participants were participating in the competition with the theme of local customs. There were also contestants shooting radiological work scenes, which was even more meaningful; famous photographers Huang, Chi-Lai, Wang, Ku-San, Chiang, Tsun-Hsiung were invited as a jury member and selected 29 gold, silver and bronze awards and excellent works. The list of winners was announced on November 8.
The golden award work was "Follow the Light" by KO, YU-CHIEH from Taiwan. The work "Crab Appreciation Trail: The Romance of Burning Clouds" by our staff member Yang Pei Lin also won the silver medal. Chou, Yi-Hong, the academic vice president of Yuanpei University of Medical Technology who initiated this event. His work also won the bronze award.
All the winning works are currently on display at Yuanpei Medical Imaging Museum. The exhibition period will end on December 15. Reservations are open for viewing or go to the event website https://photo.ypu.edu.tw/ to watch online.
